Abdullah M. Madany

PhD, Professor of Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the M.I.N.D. Institute, University of California Davis (USA)

Doctor Madany has previously participated in scientific meetings and the annual symposiums during graduate school at UC Riverside. As a postdoctoral fellow at UC Davis, he has continued to be active in the scientific community where he focused on how immune cells activity contributes to neuronal development. Since his time as a graduate student, his research has focused on immune function and the modulation of brain activity. As a graduate student and Postdoc, he has collaborated with other researchers and authored and co-authored some related manuscripts. Scientific work of doctor Madany focused on microglia, the brain's resident immune cells. He looked at how alteration of these cells can contribute to neurodevelopmental outcomes and neurodegeneration. His focus is on neurodevelopment and understanding how sex differences contribute to ASD-like symptoms by employing maternal antibiotics and maternal immune activation models.
