Being a physician/scientist, doctor Undurti Das performed translational research in cancer, diabetes mellitus, lupus, coronary heart disease, atherosclerosis, sepsis, and radiation protection. His studies led to a deeper understanding on the role of essential fatty acids (EFAs) and their metabolites prostaglandins, leukotrienes, thromboxanes, lipoxins, resolvins, protectins and maresins in several diseases that have the potential to be translated into newer therapeutic strategies. Professor Undurti Das has published more than 550 manuscripts in international journals. He is an editor in 3 journals and an author of 4 books. Professor Undurti Das obtained 5 USA patents, and edited 2 books on autism. He guided 16 PhD students and many MD (internal Medicine) students.
